Today we're going to talk about an amazing life hack you can do in your morning routine. If you've been reading this blog or Your Streamlined Life newsletters for awhile, you've probably heard me mention this before. I love it so much that I wanted to talk about it again.
Think about your typical week. Chances are, you get up around the same time most days, frequently eat the same breakfast, do the same morning routine, take the same route to work, frequently do the same tasks at your job, do the same after-work routine, go to bed, then do it all again the next day. Day, after day, after day, after day...and the days become years and pretty soon you're wondering,"How do I find my passion?" and saying things like, "It sure would be nice to (reach whatever big dream you have)..." but in your heart you know you won't even try to reach your big dreams and you won't seek your passion with 100% of your effort, because you're just too darn comfortable in your comfort zone and it's too scary.
I'm going to tell you one of the life hacks that completely changed my life.
Like many of you, I have big dreams (think huge). The game changer for me in actually making big progress toward my biggest goals was when I started doing something that scared me every day. I decided to put Mark Twain's quote into practice. He said, "Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day."
My frog is the task I want to procrastinate, or want to avoid completely because it's scary, and my life has drastically changed because I "eat the frog" every morning now.
Think about a big dream you have, and some of the tasks you'll need to do in order to make that dream your reality. Then, tomorrow morning, do one of those tasks right away.
When you start "eating the frog" every morning, you'll make immediate progress toward a big goal you have right away when you wake up. That will allow you to start your day feeling productive. Also, when you do your scary task in the morning, you won't spend the entire day worrying about getting it done - you'll just wake up, take action, and move right along. BOOM.
This is a totally simple concept, yet it can seriously change your life.
As Jack Canfield said, "Everything you want is on the other side of fear." Choosing to "eat the frog" every morning is one great way to start your day moving past your fear, so you can live the life you are meant to live.
Have a great day, frog eater 🙂
